Kerry on Iraq
“The fact that Senator Kerry voted to grant President Bush authority to handle the situation does not mean that he is required to approve of the way the President actually did handle it.”
Can you say, “Cop-out?” Who would clean off those poor oil soaked geese if it weren’t for oil companies?
“While Kerry took the problem of Saddam Hussein very seriously, he had consistently advocated building alliances and putting pressure on Hussein.”
Ok sure, but what about this?
“Kerry voted for the resolution in order to strengthen the President’s hand in dealing with Saddam Hussein and the U.N.”
Why would you “strengthen the President’s hand” against the exact group that you would have built stronger alliances with?
What the hell are you talking about Mr. Kerry?
“He (Kerry) only said that he would have voted to affirm the president’s authority to handle the situation.”
Article 1, Sec. 8(11) states that “Congress shall have the power . . . to declare war.” As Alexander Hamilton indicated, the president is commander-in-chief, but he is to fulfill his responsibilities only within the framework established by the Constitution and subject to the control of Congress.
Not good enough? How about James Madison?
“Of all the enemies to liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. … In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The Constitution expressly and exclusively vests in the Legislature the power of declaring a state of war [and] the power of raising armies…. A delegation of such powers [to the president] would have struck, not only at the fabric of our Constitution, but at the foundation of all well organized and well checked governments.”
I guess according to Kerry (and the majority of the Senate) Hamilton and Madison were suckers… Forget what it states in the Constitution. Forget about your fore-fathers. Instead let’s give a Neo-Christian-Right-Wing-Bonesmen the right to circumvent the very document that our country was founded on along with the international voice of the UN. I don’t care what Kerry says. It was a jackass vote and there’s truly no way to defend it.
I think you’re a bit late flip-flopping this issue Mr. Kerry.

I apologize to those Kerry supporters reading this but if I don’t agree with something I have every right to post it. My frustration level with this election is through the roof. Everyday I run into someone refusing to realize The Patriot Act is taking our rights away just as the Dems’ not allowing far left independents ballot access is ripping Nader’s rights away.
The freedom to speak our mind, run for office, or even burn our flag weighs the same. To allow an injustice on any instance is accepting fate. If you want to fight for maintaining our rights the front doesn’t rest with the Bush administration. The fight should be taken unanimously across all facets of government! Our rights are too important to ignore even if allowing someone opposite expression.
