Sad, Sad Man
Jimmy Swaggart:
“I’ve never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry.”
(shouts, applause)
“And I’m gonna be blunt and plain, if one ever looks at me like that I’m going to kill him and tell God he died.”
(laughter, applause)
“In case anybody doesn’t know God calls it an abomination. It’s an abomination! It’s an abomination!”
I feel bad for Jimmy Swaggart that he understands little but talks large. My understanding of God is thus: if we were created by God (which is debatable, especially if God is a human construct) I firmly believe that all these creations would be loved by God because in each of us is the face of God. Why then would Jimmy Swaggart assume that it would be okay to break one of the Ten Commandments and kill a gay man (who probably wouldn’t want to marry Rev. Swaggart anyway)?
This article (concerning what can only be construed as partisan Christian politics in action) in sojo.net ends nicely with the following line:
All individuals are God’s children and should be treated with the same dignity and love that God shows to each of us.
