“Political language… is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give the appearance of solidity to pure wind.”—George Orwell

Brings to mind The Patriot Act, Clean Air Act, No Child Left Behind Act, etc., etc., etc.

It also brings all of the debate over terrorism in focus.  I wish the country would realize that there is no terrorist threat.  9/11 happened once and will only happen once.  Acts of large scale terrorism are extremely rare, despite what the candidates and the media say.  Only focusing on terrorism is not worth ignoring the world’s and the country’s issues that are in constant threat to the fundamental rights of the people and the planet.

I don’t care who is the stronger military leader or who will “make my family safer.” Both of those issues are very abstract; the system isn’t abstract.  A president doesn’t get anything done with abstract promises, they only get votes.  But, not my vote!
