During the last month of the presidential race, President Bush repeated mercilessley that John Kerry was of a September 10th mind-set.

On November 2nd, conservative America proved that the opposite was true when they decided that their morals (comprising all of two very debatable matters) defined their votes.  Prior to September 11th, 2001, our nation was divided over certain issues but these were balled up and thrown into the trash can when we were all attacked.  Three years later the chasm that gapes widely between the two major parties is even greater and the mighty finger pointed towards John Kerry’s “pre 9/11 attitude” actually has made an about face.  Republicans – you have voted in a very September 10th fashion by making the wedge issues of gay marriage and abortion rule your myopic political views.  Shame upon all of you.

Democrats – Stop crying and stand up.  This is not the end.  We have our work cut out for us but as every minute passes our work becomes easier.  Rule like this does not last long.  Our young Republicans forget that they may go to war along side our young Democrats and may yet smell the stench of blood and burning flesh.  Their time, which I pray does not come to pass, is nigh as the selective service has already started rolling through our higher education system.  The glue that has barely held the party of the conservatives together is already giving way.  Republicans are in-fighting as the fiscal conservatives battle to save their party from the religious fanatics.  They will implode with time, my friends.  Let them burn in their fires and, as has been shown in the past, the Democrats will have to sweep away their mess.  Civil rights, the environment, waging peace, fighting for the destitute, feeding the hungry, and caring for our fellow man must remain the progressive focus.  We have four years.  Make every moment a Democratic moment and we will eclipse this darkened time.
