“Taipei 101, the world’s tallest building, is set to open in December. The 1,667 foot-tall, 101-floor, $700 million office tower was developed by Taiwan Financial Corp., designed by local firm C.Y. Lee & Partners, and built by Turner Construction.

The design of Taipei 101, whose sloping walls are divided into eight parts, incorporates the Chinese pagoda form and the shape of bamboo flowers growing (these plants grow in different sections).

Back in October the building was officially certified by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat as the tallest building in the world, surpassing the 1,483-foot Petronas Towers in structural height, habitable floor height, and rooftop height. Sears Tower in Chicago still holds the record for pinnacle/ antenna height.”
