The Loss of Humanity
As the humanitarian crisis in Darfur escalates, one must wonder where America is. In Darfur we have an obvious enemy and an even more obvious victim. How can this pass without any intervention save Colin Powell’s acknowledgement of the atrocities witnessed in this part of the world. Is it because all we could benefit from is the saving of human lives? Just because there is no profit or material/strategic gain of any kind we allow the slaughtering of a people to continue day-to-day. The continued genocide is an immoral choice by our government and other governments of this world that are obsessed with the riches of oil and the strategy of creating puppet nation-states in the Middle East.
yeah, it’s completely absurd that we allow this to go on-especially when Bush tries to justify the invasion of Iraq by pointing to the totalitarian Sadam regime. This makes it obvious that our involvement is hardly every about securing human rights, but about securing our interests.
