Apparently all those anti-war crazies (the “crazies” includes me, my family, and my close friends) never had a say, even during the past election.  As he did during his election run, President Bush seems to be ignoring huge numbers and parts of this country that stand opposed to his war-like aggression and his weak domestic economic policies.  How can the President of the United States just assume that everyone that voted for him supports the war on Iraq?  For example, I know that many Catholic voters, who were against the war, voted for Bush for other reasons such as his anti-abortion stance.  I even know some people that voted for Bush that are against the war!  I’m surely not saying this is right, but there are other layered reasons for people to have voted the way they did.  By assuming he has political and, apparently, dictatorial capital, President Bush assumes that he can do whatever he damned well pleases because just over half the voters voted for his campaign of fear, exclusion, and corporate dominance.  I assume he’s just going to ignore the other almost half of the voters who didn’t vote for him.  Typical.

Here is an excerpt from an article posted on Yahoo:

“On a complicated matter such as removing a dictator from power and trying to help achieve democracy, sometimes the unexpected will happen, both good and bad,” he said. “I am realistic about how quickly a society that has been dominated by a tyrant can become a democracy. . . . I am more patient than some.”
