Hush Hush
Lawrence B. Lindsey was Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Director of the National Economic Council at the White House. In 2002 he stated in a press conference that the war in Iraq could cost $100-$200 billion. He was promptly forced to resign and completely discounted by the White House in his findings. With the White House’s request for an additional $80 billion the cost of the war is climbing well over $200 and nearing $300.
Leave it to the Bush administration to fire people for telling the truth (Gen. Eric Shinseki) and hire people for telling lies (Condoleeza Rice).
