Climate Control
You and I were once embryos. . . . Embryos may seem like some scientific or laboratory term, but, in fact, the embryo contains the unique information that defines a person. All you add is food and climate control and some time, and the embryo becomes you or me.
This man must have a high regard for women. That’s right ladies; your body is simply a temperature controlled resort for all mankind.
The quote came from a speech Rep. Akin gave right before the House approved a stem cell research bill opposed by Bush.
No matter how you view the situation it’s a fact that the embryos we’re talking about extracting stem cells from would otherwise be discarded. Of course, there’s a new practice of adopting embryos to wanting parents. Bush didn’t even lose a step to exploit this practice for his own righteous agenda, “Every embryo is unique and genetically complete, like every other human being. And each of us started out our life this way. These lives are not raw material to be exploited, but gifts.” Sorry, what was that about exploitation?
Here are some facts. Millions of embryos are created in fertility clinics each year and the vast majority of those are discarded. 81 adopted embryos have been born thus far. Right now 400,000 frozen embryos exist in US clinics. The amount dictates the means perfectly. Give science a chance to help thousands of suffering individuals and further promote adoption to infertile parents. Simple? No, not with this war mongering “moral” administration. Bush only likes to kill the mentally handicapped and Muslims of the world.
