Creation and Evolution
Quotes borrowed from the NYTimes.com article titled: Seeing Creation and Evolution in Grand Canyon
“It’s all theory, right?” asked Jack Aiken, 63, an Assemblies of God minister in Alaska who has a master’s degree in geology. “Except what’s in the Good Book.”
Hmm, I wonder where Aiken acquired a Master’s in geology. I did some Googling and only turned up his Senior Pastor status at King’s Way Assembly of God in Eagle River Alaska. I’m not saying he didn’t obtain a Master’s, just that I couldn’t find anything on the subject.
“Ultimately, creationism is not just bad science to me, it’s bad Christianity, it’s Bible worship,” said Mr. Alan Gishlick, 32, a paleontology Ph.D. “There’s just no reason to look at these patterns of layered sediment, or in the fossil record, or at the stars, and think that what you’re seeing isn’t what you’re seeing. God doesn’t require you to be stupid, to deny what you see, to deny what you know.”
On the other hand, doing a bit more research on Alan Gishlick turned up his 2001 graduation date and NCSE (National Center for Science Education) Postdoctoral fellow status. He also happens to have a Ph.D. in Vertebrate Paleontology from the Department of Geology and Geophysics at Yale University.
I’m not saying education is everything but, makes you think…
