The Blowout schedule went up a few days back. It’s not quite finished (or completely up-to-date) but it’s nice that the promoters have released an initial lineup. The usual suspects are once again set to make an appearance this year. And quite a few newer acts are popping up in slots here and there.

A couple Detroit blogs have been discussing the popularity of certain bands in the lineup, and/or whether some smaller venues (Painted Lady) can handle larger acts (TAN!). Personally, I think it’ll pose an interesting dilemma. Nevertheless, I created a Last.fm event for the festival (slow day at work) and the programmers behind the site wrote a function that orders bands according to popularity. Of course, it’s limited to how popular they are on Last.fm only (not in “real” life). And it doesn’t just count the number of plays, but the number of listeners each artist has. Which is kind of neat. Go check it out.
