McCain, the Absent Superstar
John McCain calls Barack Obama a celebrity, yet he’s “[made] cameos in ‘Wedding Crashers’ and ’24,’ his memoir [was] turned into a popular biopic on A&E, and [he's] appeared more than 30 times on late night comedy shows.” (CBS News)
McCain tells all Senate Democrats to, “come back into town and come back to work” to vote for an energy bill (read: Drill, drill, drill, so in ten years “Big Oil” can have even higher record profits), yet he’s “missed over 65% of the votes for the last 2 years.” (NYTimes)
Seriously, who’s planning to vote for this guy?
what i don’t get is how all the self-proclaimed liberals who were loving mccain hosting SNL and being on the daily show 2 dozen times now all of a sudden are viewing him as the human incarnation of the beast. the man is basically the same, though a bit more “bushy”. i suppose if he were not the GOP nominee the current view of him wouldn’t be what it is.
i wonder if his daughter is still the white stripes manager?
(Not that I ever “loved” the guy) it’s one thing to be entertained by repubs’ on TV, it’s another to have them in charge of the most powerful military on earth.
I see your point but I think liberals were cool with “Campaign Finance Reform McCain” before “Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran McCain” reared its ugly head. That’s the thing about educated liberals, they’re not ashamed (at least they shouldn’t be) in changing their minds based on further research and/or intelligence and/or evidence. It’s this fact that illustrates the difference between belief based on fundamentalist delusion from belief based on the best possible facts available. One can change with evidence, one never needed evidence in the first place.
